AVG launches LiveKive cloud sync and backup tool

Posted by admin on May 19, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
A while back, we told you about AVG’s new LiveKive service, a new cloud synchronization and backup tool which appears to have been named after a vat in which mash is made during the brewing process. But enough about AVG’s odd choice of monikers — LiveKive has launched and is now ready to accept your files into the AVG cloud. LiveKive takes aim at services like Dropbox and SugarSync, though at the moment it’s lagging behind in terms of features. As it stands, LiveKive is only compatible with Windows and OS X. There are no mobile clients yet, though with AVG’s...

Insert Coin: Chameleon adaptive home screen replacement for Android tablets

Posted by admin on May 19, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
In Insert Coin, we look at an exciting new tech project that requires funding before it can hit production. If you’d like to pitch a project, please send us a tip with “Insert Coin” as the subject line. If you’re an Android tablet owner, you’re likely very familiar with the drill: after you unlock the device, you’re presented with a static home screen full of apps and widgets, which may or may not be relevant to your current need. The creators of Chameleon, a home screen replacement for Android 3.2 / 4.0 tablets, would like to change all that with a...

This HP Touchpad Is Your Fire-Sale-Reborn Deal of the Day [Dealzmodo]

I’m looking for a replacement for my laptop. It’s not broken, just since starting this working-online thing, I’ve become feeble. I need something light to carry around with me. I’d be more than happy to just leave it all up to my phone, but there’s only so much typing I can do on such a tiny screen. I’m in serious need of something now. And that one company’s tablet looks great, but isn’t it just a little pricey? Yeah. That’s right. I’m cheap. It’s OK. More » ...

Microsoft Announces Its Back-To-School Promotion: Buy A PC, Get A Free Xbox

Posted by admin on May 19, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Microsoft, just like Apple, usually runs a major back-to-school promotion every summer that is meant to give students (and their parents) some extra incentives to buy a new computer. The company’s just-announced back-to-school deal for the U.S. and Canada is pretty much the same as last year’s. A year ago, Microsoft gave students who bought a new PC and Xbox 360 and this year it’s doing exactly the same. Farragomate is a social fridge magnet game where you make up sentences

Posted by admin on May 19, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
You know those fridge magnet kits composed of a whole bunch of words? The ones you put all over your fridge door and then try to arrange into all sorts of juvenile and/or amusing sentences. Well, Farragomate is the social, webby version of that very same pastime. You get to play with a bunch of random strangers in real-time, and make up sentences out of a pre-set collection of words, including some fairly naughty ones, and all players’ nicknames. As you can imagine, some of the results are not child-friendly. There are ten rounds to a game. Once a round is done, players get to...
